The cardigan you NEED for fall

Cozy_cardigan_for_fall

Sweaters, pumpkins and all things cozy! It's official, fall is finally here... in stores at least. Temperatures here in Charlotte are still in the upper 80's and 90's, but that's not stopping retailers from dishing out all things pumpkin at us. As much as I am sad to see summer go, I mine as well embrace fall into open arms and what better way to do so than with the comfiest cardigan in the world?

Happy Friday friends!

Year after year my go to piece in my fall wardrobe has been cardigans. They're such a great piece to help transition your outfit from summer to fall, make your outfit a little more cozy, and they're a great layering piece. I have gone through several cardigans over the years, but this one has to take the cake.

I picked up this cozy maroon cardigan from Nordstrom during their Anniversary Sale and it's seriously the softest sweater ever! I'm not kidding, I want a blanket made out of this material! I think my favorite part about this cardigan is how long it is. There's something about a slightly oversized long cardigan that gives off a "girl next door" look that I love.

I decided to pair this cardigan over one of my favorite t-shirt dresses to help make it a little more fall appropriate. As you can tell from last Friday's outfit post I'm a little obsessed with the maroon color for fall and especially when it's paired with gray and white.

What is your go to piece in the fall time? I would love to know in the comments down below! I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend and as always, thank you for reading!

A fun business casual look

If they're going to make me dress like an "adult" I'm at least going to throw in some type of color, pattern or girly flare in there, right? Don't get me wrong, I love my blacks and navy pieces, but life is to short to go out to work in boring clothes everyday, right?

Happy Wednesday friends!

So I have a confession to make... My closet is lacking in the work / business casual attire badly. And when I mean badly I mean I alternate between two outfits when I need to dress up. This is slightly embarrassing considering that I am a senior in college and I am a business major. How did I last this long? I question that myself too.

I was never the one who loved the traditional plain black and white business wear outfit (which I know in different professions there isn't much room to play with prints and colors). I like my outfits to reflect my personality and mood for the day and most days black and white just isn't going to cut it for me.

If you take a look through my past outfit posts you can quickly tell that I love colors and a good fun pattern (especially floral!) I recently rediscovered this printed shirt dress in my closet and cannot believe that it's been tucked away in my closet for so long! I have had this dress since sophomore year of HIGH SCHOOL and have probably worn it maybe twice since then. In the past two weeks I've already worn this dress three times and am already looking for similar dresses because I love it so much!

Funny how we re fall in love with old items when we go shopping in our own closets, huh? Kind of the reason why I am hesitant to get rid of my old things.. haha!

Like I had said, my work wear wardrobe needs some work especially with some changes in the near future occurring. If you all have a favorite place to find some cute and affordable work wear items please let me know in the comments down below! Also, let me know what your go to work wear piece is. I'd love to know!

P.S. All my Charlotte friends, there's a fun Brahmin event at South Park tomorrow evening if you all want to check it out! Here's the invite with all the information if you would like to attend!

I hope all of you have wonderful rest of your week!

How to Organize Your Agenda

Raise your hands if you're a planner addict *insert 5 hand raising emojis*. There's something about having everything planned out in a pretty color coded, sticky note filled planner that makes me feel like I have my life some what together. Today I'm dishing out all of my planning secrets and sharing how I keep my planner organized!

Okay, to start off let's talk about the actual planner. For the last three years I have used the Lilly Pulitzer agenda and have loved it! There's something about planning in a brightly colored planner just makes school work seem a little bit better, am I right? The Lilly Pulitzer large agenda is the perfect size for me to carry around everyday and it has enough space for me to write down everything I need.

Color Coding

Like most people I like to color code my planner to make things a. look pretty and b. more organized. It's a great way for me to easily see what I need to get done and what for just by looking at what color. For me my color coding goes by..

Black - School work
Pink - Personal
Purple - Blogging
Blue - Bills / Rent / Dues / anything"money related"
Green - School events
Red - "Adulting" (Interviews, meetings, appointments, etc.)
Orange - Work

Also, I always have to carry white out with me because plans always change and I always make some mistake when plan things out... I guess that's the one down side with writing in pen though.

Side note: my favorite black pens EVER are the pens you get from the Target dollar spot. I swear they make my handwriting look 10xs better!

Month at a glance

The month at a glance is a great place to put all of your major assignments, exams, work dates, etc. This is where I typically write all of my main exams, projects, assignments, meetings, etc. so I can quickly see them in advance. Since the boxes are fairly small I tend to write only the important things that are due in the boxes. Also, for important / major things to remember such as exams or sponsored blog posts I tend to highlight them to make sure I don't forget about them.

I also like to keep track of the days I go to the gym here. The days I go to the gym are crossed out in pink and the days I don't make it to the gym are crossed out in black. This way I can keep myself accountable of when I need to hit the gym and also in a way it helps me keep track of how often I go to see if my membership is worth the money.

On the right side of the planner there's space for you to write your "to do's." Here I like to keep track of posts I have to do during the month as well as my packages.

Weekly Spread
For the weekly spread it's pretty self explanatory, I write down assignments that are due, exams, meetings, etc. I do see my planner as sort of a journal and tend to go back and write down things that happened during that day even though it was spontaneous. For example, if a friend and I randomly decided to go out to eat last minute I'll go back and write it in my planner. Does that make sense? haha.

I like to use paper clips to mark what week I'm on and to easily flip to the correct monthly layout. I picked up these gold bow paper clips from Marshalls a little bit ago and they look exactly like the Kate Spade ones but they were only $5!!

The weekly spread shown above was taken at the very beginning of the week so my planner looks fairly empty. After each task is done I usually cross them out and by the end of the week my planner is all crossed out and filled with sticky notes like the spread shown below from a previous week!

Sticky notes

I. Love. Sticky. Notes. They are the best! I typically start each day off with writing a daily to-do list and putting it in my planner (in coordinating color of course..). I seriously feel more productive having a list of everything I need done written out for me and crossing each item off as I get done with it.

My favorite place to get sticky notes is the Target dollar spot. So cheap and they have the CUTEST variety! I pretty much write everything down on my to-do list, what assignment I have to do, when to workout, blogging things I need to get done, etc. For days that I have a lot to get done I write them down on a longer to-do list and washi tape the list into my planner.

Stickers!

I also love to decorate with stickers! I mean, why not make exam days a little better with a cute exam sticker? Am I right? The Lilly planner comes with some super cute stickers and I also like ordering some from Etsy! These stickers shown above are all from Sweet Kawaii Design.

Annnnd that's it! That's how I like to keep things organized in my planner to keep me on track for school. I have linked my planner along with some other cute options down below for you all to check out!

How do you organize your agenda? Let me know in the comments down below! Also let me know what planner you use! I'm always on the look out for trying new planners!

Hope you all have a great day!!

The color of fall

If fall could be a color it would be maroon... or burgundy, or wine, or what ever you decide to call this gorgeous color. Year after year my go to color in the fall time has to be maroon. It's such a classic color for this time of year and you can pretty much guarantee this color isn't going out of style any time soon.

Happy Friday friends!

Yesterday marks the official first day of fall and as sad as I am to see summer go, I am excited for a wardrobe change. One of my favorite color to wear year after year in the fall time is maroon.

If you follow other fashion bloggers then you may have heard them raving about this Lush top from Nordstrom. I was bummed that I didn't pick up the top during the sale, but was super happy that I managed to find a super similar top at TJ Maxx for $12! Although this top is not the exact top that everyone is raving about, I still get the hype. This top is super versitle and have already found so many ways to style it!

For some reason I'm not one to purchase plain and simple tops when I go out shopping. I guess my mind set is if I'm buying something I want it to have some print or be a statement... but in return they're really not that versitle. So long story short, several pats on the back for me for picking up this top!

This Sunday is my little brother's birthday and I swear every year his birthday goes by I'm always in denial that he's growing up. I mean, he's going into the last year of his teenage years! WHAT. Can time stop now please?

On another note, I hope all of you have a wonderful and safe weekend! Let me know what you are doing down below!

How to Balance Blogging and School

how_to_balance_blogging_and_school
Happy Wednesday friends!

I hope you all are doing well and are having a fantastic week so far. School is in full swing now and it's hard to believe that days of sitting poolside with a fruity drink in hand is behind us (*insert crying face emoji here*). After going through some trial and error last school year I'm here to share with you all some of my tips on how I balance blogging and school!
Let's get started now, shall we?

Remember, school comes first
First things first (I'm the realest). Remember that school comes first and blogging comes second. Focus on your education first and when you have free time do your blog work. Don't get discouraged that you missed an upload day or haven't posted a blog post in two weeks because it's finals week. We get it. If you are going to miss an upload day maybe shoot a tweet or post an Instagram photo giving your followers a heads up. They'll understand, I promise!

Schedule, Schedule, Schedule!
I recently discovered scheduling tools this past summer and they've seriously been a lifesaver! They allow me to get post everything I need for the week and not having me constantly be on my phone all day. My favorite scheduling tools to use are:

Buffer and Tweetdeck for Twitter
Hootsuite for Instagram

Funny side story: the other day in class I overheard some classmates having to create a Hootsuite account for a social media class and they were saying "Why on earth would anyone need an app to schedule all of their social media posts on? That's so silly and unnecessary!" LOL if only they knew how helpful it is for bloggers!

I also like using the scheduling tool on Facebook and Tumblr to schedule posts on there as well. On Sundays I like to set aside time to schedule all of my posts and social media posts for the week so it's out of the way!

Set aside time for blogging
I don't have classes or really any set obligations on Fridays so I like to use that day as my "blogging day." On Fridays I knock out all the photos I need for posts, put together my posts and anything else blogging related. You don't necessary need to set out a whole day to do strictly blogging things, it cane be a certain time in the day such as early in the mornings. It helps to have a schedule of when to do things and at least for me, I get more things done when I have a set schedule for what I need to do!

Plan ahead of time
This is kind of piggy backing off of the scheduling tip, but plan ahead of time! Remember all of those time management skills they keep drilling into us? If you have some free time try to knock out some blog posts or plan out content for future posts. My blogging planner is great for letting me know when I need to start preparing my posts if I know I have a busy week ahead of me. This way you're not waiting until the night before to write a post while you have about 100 other things you have due tomorrow as well.

When I know I have a busy school week coming up I usually plan ahead on my posts and get them knocked out and schedule them for that week. I also (try to)  strategically plan out certain types of post based on my school schedule. For example, if I know I'm going to have two exams in one week, I know I'm not going to want to do a sponsored post, outfit post and a long in depth post about how to organize my closet that week.

Lists are a great way to visually see all the posts you need to knock out if you want to write and prep them in advance. I usually have a running list of posts I need to finish on the side of my planner for days when I want to get ahead and write some posts in advance!

Take your photos in bulk

With my blog being a fashion blog my biggest struggle has always been finding time to take outfit posts. I've gotten into a habit of shooting 3 - 4 outfits on the days we shoot photos and even more if we can fit it in just so I am a little ahead of schedule just incase something happens where I can't get photos done. Like I had mentioned earlier, I try to dedicate Fridays to get all the photos I need for the blog shot and out of the way for the upcoming week (or weeks) just so I have them out of the way.

"Rainy day" posts
Okay, let's say your internet goes down for a few days or you have a major test you have to study for or what ever reason that prevents you from sitting down and writing a post. This is where those "rain day" blog posts comes in handy.

I like to have 2 -3 "rainy day" blog posts handy and pre written (or at least 90% written) to go up when I know I don't have time to write a full post or go out and take pictures for it. This could be a story time post, a how to post, whatever post that isn't time or seasonally sensitive and you can post it whenever.

Those are some of my tips I use to help me balance blogging and school. Just remember that blogging is a hobby and that school does come first. It'll take a little to get use to balancing the two, but once you find a system that works for you then you'll have it down pat in no time!

What are some of your tips on how to balance blogging and school? I'd love to know in the comments down below! I hope you all have a great day!

Outfits throughout the day with TOBI

So many outfits, so little time.

Between school, work, working out, going out to dinners or going out for the night I can easily run through several different outfits in one day. On the flip side I also have those days where I literally roll out of the bed in a pair of Norts and a tee and end up wearing that the entire day... Hey, it happens.

Today I thought it would be fun to share with you all what a typical day goes for me outfit wise. From school to work(ish) to going out I'm giving you all the deets on what I would typically wear. Let's get started now, shall we?

Outfit 1: School day ready
Partner in Crime Stripped Dress c/o || Reversible Tote || Glitter Keds || Watch || Similar Necklace

As of late this is what a typical school day outfit looks like for me (yes, coffee in hand too!). One of my go to pieces to wear for class has been comfy dresses. Dresses are SO easy to throw on and you don't even have to think about pairing a different top and bottom. It's also a plus that you look slightly dressed up even though you only threw on one article of clothing and ran out the door.

Another go to piece for me when it comes to school wear are comfy shoes. I make the commute to campus by foot and uncomfortable shoes are a big no no for me. One of my favorite shoes has to be these glitter Kate Spade Keds! They instantly add a wow factor to any outfit and they're super comfortable!

Outfit 2: Meetings / Dinner
Swoop in Shift Dress c/o || Similar Purse || Similar Nude Wedges || Similar Triangle Necklace || Bar Necklace c/o || Watch

Usually after class I'll have some sort of meeting, maybe an interview, a dinner date, or some sort of occasion where I would have to dress a little nicer for. We all know that I have a love for shift / swing styled dress and when I saw this little number I knew I had to have it.

The olive color of this dress is just perfect for fall and the dress itself is so simple that I can see myself styling it multiple different ways. The v-neck cut of this dress was actually a little too low for my personal taste, but a quick stitch with a needle and thread and the dress was the perfect cut for me!

Shop the look:

Outfit 3: Night Out
Diem Skort Romper c/o || Similar Mint Statement Necklace HERE and HERE || Similar Black Wedges || Monogram Clutch c/o || Watch

TBH before I turned 21 I wasn't big on going out (heck, I'm still not huge on going out now that I am of age #grandma), but when I do rompers / cute shorts are my go to. As much as I love dresses during the day, I feel way more comfortable in some sort pant like bottom when going out at night.

This little romper is the perfect going out piece because it's super comfortable and it kind of gives you the look of a short going out dress without the whole "I'm worried my booty is hanging out with every step I take" feeling.

As much as I love my colors during the day, black on black is my go to at night. There's something so sleek about a black on black outfit and the best part is if you spill something on yourself you can't really tell! #clutz

Shop the look:
Whew! And that's it! LIke I said some days I don't go through this many outfit changes while others it seems like I go through my entire closet! You never know what the day entails.

All of these outfits were from TOBI. TOBI is an awesome online retail site offering on trend pieces for an affordable price. As you can see, they have pieces that will work for pretty much any occasion whether it be school, work, or going out related. The best part is that for first time shoppers you get 50% site wide!

Have you ever shopped at TOBI before? Also, let me know which one of these outfits was your favorite in the comments down below! I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and be sure to come back Wednesday for a new post!
