10 favorite photo locations in Charlotte

Happy Monday friends!

One of my favorite things about blogging is getting to explore Charlotte and find new places for photo shoots. I really do think if it wasn't for blogging I'd probably wouldn't have gone out as much to explore the city.

Today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite photo locations with you all. I know I would have loved to have a post like this when I first started blogging. When I first started out I pretty much took photos all in the same location with a not so aesthetically pleasing background.

By no means am I claiming that I have explored all of Charlotte and scouted out the best locations, but here are some of my favorites from the places I did manage to explore. If you all like, I can maybe do an updated post later on when I adventure and discover more places in Charlotte. Without further ado, here's my round up!

Also, I've linked some other blog posts that I've done under each location so you all can get an idea of the variety of backgrounds you can get in one location. I always like to try find places where I can shoot multiple outfits with a variety of backgrounds!

First Ward Park
First Ward is a go to favorite of mine. I recently discovered this park over the summer and love it! There are multiple different locations you can use to shoot here and it has a bathroom - big win if you're shooting multiple outfits in one day.

For different background options you can take at First Ward Park you can check out these blog posts:

Romare Bearden Park
I think that Romare Bearden is a classic go to photo location. Similar to First Ward Park, there are a variety of backgrounds you can get from this location and it also has a bathroom (always a plus)! You can take photos on the side walk near the Knight's Stadium (as shown above), near the gardens, or in the grassy area where you can get a nice view of the city in the background.

Check out these blog posts taken at Romare Bearden Park:

7th Street Market Parking Deck
I actually found out about the 7th Street Market Parking Deck from my latest blogging meet up! This deck is right in Uptown and you are able to get some beautiful building shots in the background of your photos. There also little space murals located near the elevators on this deck that would make fun backgrounds as well! I have yet to taken a full blog post there, but I have taken Instagram photos here and would love to come back for a full shoot!

Marshall Park
Located near the Sharaton and Le Meradien hotel in Uptown, Marshall is an ideal park in my opinion to go to during the fall. As you can tell from the photo above, the trees are SO vibrant and has been one of my favorite places to shoot. The only tricky part about Marshall park is there are limited metered parking spaces and there are no bathrooms if you need to change outfits (I advise packing blankets to cover the windows in your car, I've done this countless times. Seems sketchy, but it works!).

Here are some other posts done at Marshall Park:

Duke Mansion
Okay, I haven't officially taken pictures at Duke Mansion, but I love to take pictures in the neighborhood around it! This area is perfect if you want long sidewalks with beautiful greenery in the background.

Target Midtown Parking Deck
I believe this is the very first place in the Uptown area that I adventured out to do blog photos at. I have always heard about this deck from Annaliese of Southern Belle in Training and am so glad I checked it out. The top lot of the deck is blocked off so you don't have to worry about cars getting in the way of your photo. Unlike the 7th street market deck, this deck is located outside of Uptown so you are able to get a beautiful skyline shot in the background.

Sugar Creek Greenway
The Greenway is another favorite photo spot! The Greenway has many options for photo backgrounds, my favorite has to be under the gazebo (is that what it's called?!).

Check out other posts taken here:
Green and White
Army Green + Lace

Pearl Park
I feel like not many people in Charlotte know about Pearl Park (or maybe a ton do and I'm just super late to the game!). This is a cute little park near Sugar Creek Greenway that has some pretty backgrounds if you want some pretty greenery in the background! The park also has a soccer field and basketball court if you're wanting to get in some exercise after your shoot (or to keep your boyfriend entertained while you change in between shoots!)

Piedmont Row
I feel like this is the infamous "Christmas tree" spot during the holiday time for Charlotte bloggers. There's always a giant Christmas tree up in the middle of Piedmont Row that makes the perfect backdrop for any holiday photo. This is also a great spot for pictures outside of Christmas as well. I typically take my photos on an empty side walk and never had too much of an issue with people walking in the background.

Under the Tyvola Light rail station
This location might be a little strange, but aren't all the best location spots where we least expect it? This location is right under the light rail statin on Tyvola near SouthPark. This is a great spot for photos if you don't want to worry about people walking around in the background!

Other posts taken here:
Summer Sunset

South End
Side walk by light rail
This is such a pretty spot for photos in the spring because you can always get the pretty flowers blooming in the background. The big con about this location is that you have to watch out for all the runners and bikers out - especially when it's a beautiful day out. There's also a fun "Before I die..." chalkboard on this sidewalk that would also be a fun spot for an Instagram post!

And that's my round up! I hope you all found this post helpful! If you're in the Charlotte area, let me know where your favorite places to take blog photos are down below! I hope you all have a great rest of your week!

Pinstripe Button Down

Similar Button Down || Black Jeans || Flats || Similar Purse || Earrings  (only $13!) || Monogram Necklace c/o || Sunglasses || Watch

Happy Friday friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful week! If you read last week's Pink Talk's post then you know that I had went to a fun blogger brunch with fellow Charlotte blogger, Kate of Chic in Carolina! We had a wonderful time catching up and walking around South End to relieve our stuffed tummies!

I'm not sure if this has anything with me getting older, my style changing or what, but I've been really trying to purchase more classic pieces for my wardrobe. Classic button down pieces have been a favorite for me lately. Button down shirts are always so versitle and they always make me feel instantly more put together.

I had purchased this one from Forever 21 quite a few years ago and I love how lightweight it is. This top is perfect for the weather we've been having lately and is the perfect piece to transition into spring with.

Speaking of spring.. my spring break is one we week away and I CANNOT believe how fast this semester is going by! I'm actually pretty scared how fast everything is going by, but at the same time it may be a good thing because I'm quickly losing motivation since it is my last semester... #realtalk.

I hope you all have been having a great week and a fabulous weekend! Let me know what your plans are down below!

Styling Statement Earrings

Similar Sweater || Leather Jacket || Black Skinny Jeans || Flats || Super Similar Earrings || Similar Purse || Alex and Ani Unicorn || Alex and Ani Initial

Happy Wednesday friends!

If you follow me on Instagram (which you should because it's a fun time over there!), then you know that I have been going through a slight major statement earring obsession. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the warmer weather we've been having or retailers are just dishing out so many cute earrings lately that has got me hooked, but whatever it is I'm rolling with it.

Statement earrings are such a fun way to add a pop of color to any outfit or instantly dress them up. I managed to score these earrings as one of BaubleBar's buried baubles for $12! Tassel earrings are my favorite type of earrings to wear and I feel like you can't really go wrong with them. At first I was pretty hesitant to dive into the statement earring trend, but it's fairly easy to incorporate them into your outfit.

Got a plain neutral outfit? Add a pop of color with a fun earring!
Got a multi color top / dress? Accent a color with a solid color pair of earrings!

It's such a fun way to switch up an outfit from your typical statement necklace (which we all know that I LOVE).

I have linked some of my favorite statement earrings for you all down below to shop if you're on this major earring kick like I am! Where are your favorite places to shop for earrings? Let me know in the comments down below!

BooHoo Review

Happy Monday friends!

If you have been a follower on the blog for a hot minute then you may know that I have collected quite a few pieces from BooHoo. If you're not familiar with BooHoo, it is an online retail that offers mens and women's clothing. BooHoo is known for their affordable clothing pieces and they're always running crazy sales such as 50% everything.

Also note: BooHoo typically sends you a 30% off coupon off your order if you add something to your cart and leave if you have an account with them.

I'm the first to say that I am very hesitant to order from websites that I'm not familiar with and especially those that have "too good to be true" prices. I mean, how can you not? After hearing about BooHoo multiple times on YouTube and on social media I finally decided to take the plunge and try it for myself. I have been shopping on BooHoo for about a year now and wanted to share my experience about the site with you all. So, let's get started now, shall we?

Dress from this outfit post

This has to be the trickiest part about ordering from BooHoo. When I first ordered on BooHoo all the sizing options were in UK sizes, but recently I noticed they started switching over to US sizes.

For size reference, I'm a typically a Small / Medium or a size 4 in most stores. In Old Navy, J.Crew and most boutiques I'm typically a small and in Forever 21 I'm almost always a true medium. When I order from BooHoo I usually order a US size 4 or UK 8.

I typically order dresses from BooHoo and almost all of them have fit me fine. I have ordered a couple tops from them and stuck with my dress size. As for bottoms, I have only ordered a skirt from them (the one that was unlined and super revealing) and even though it didn't work out style wise, it did fit well.

Always be sure to reference the size chart of each clothing item because each item may be different. I typically mainly order looser fit clothing pieces such as shift dresses and oversized sweaters incase the clothing item is too big it won't look too strange.

From this outfit post

As for quality, you pretty much get what you paid for. I believe all of the items I have purchased on BooHoo were all on sale and came to under $25. I have a mix of items ranging from pretty decent quality to paper thin quality that feels like it could rip at any second. One thing to note is that price does not reflect quality. I have paid $22 for a dress and a dress I've paid $8 was 10x more better quality than the $22 one.

My suggestion is to check the description of all the clothing pieces you are interested in purchasing. Reviews are also helpful as well. Also, be sure to make note if it says the clothing item is unlined or not. One time I had purchased a wrap style skirt and didn't realized it was unlined and am not able to wear it unless I want a lot more of my "goods" to show than I want..

Another thing to keep in mind regarding to quality is that most if not all of their spaghetti strap items (such as the one pictured above) are not adjustable. The ones I have received have super long straps that would make the item unwearable without an adjustment. If you do decide to purchase a piece that has spaghetti straps, a track I have been doing has been tying the straps into a bow and sewing it in place.

Shipping / Returns
From this outfit post

Shipping - I have heard those in other countries receive their order from BooHoo within a hand full of days. From my experience I typically receive my order in a week and half to two weeks. Something to keep in mind incase you order a piece for a particular event.

Returns - When you purchase from Boohoo, keep in mind is that BooHoo does not offer free returns so that's something to keep mind before you order multiple items in hopes to send back the pieces you don't want.

Final thoughts
From this outfit post

BooHoo is a great place if you want to purchase super affordable and trendy pieces. Like most online places, it can be a hit or miss place to purchase from.

If you'd like to check out some other outfit posts I've done styling BooHoo pieces you can do so here:
Denim Shirt Dress - did not like the quality of this piece and it was one of the pricer pieces
Thanksgiving Outfit - Easy t-shirt dress
Game day dress - love this dress, but material is not ideal for hot summer days
The perfect swing dress - this has to be one of my favorite purchases!

I hope you all found this review helpful! I tried to go as in depth as I could to give you a full review. Let me know if you all have any questions or would like me to do a similar review on another retailer for you all! I have also linked a few of my favorite finds from BooHoo down below for you all incase you want to check the website out. I hope you all have a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!

P.S. If you haven't yet, I'd LOVE it if you would please take a second and take my reader survey! It would mean so much to me and help me create content YOU want to see! Thank you so much to those who already took it!

Happy Friday friends!

I hope you all have had a wonderful week! I wanted to start off today's Pink Talks's post to announce that I have created a reader survey for Pastel N Pink! I'd love for you all to take the survey to help me improve Pastel N Pink! I have been seeing so many bloggers creating one and receiving such great and helpful responses through them. I've been in such a rut with what kind of content to create for you all and want to know what exactly you all want to see on the blog! It would be SO apperciated if you take the survey and I cannot wait to see your responses!

What I've Been Doing...

Blogger Brunch
Last Saturday I headed to Tupelo Honey Cafe with Katie of Chic in Carolina for a fun little blogger brunch! It was so fun getting to catch up since our last little get together. After brunch we walked around South End a bit for blog photos and to let our tummies digest from all the yummy food we just ate!

Jadelynn Brooke Spring Rep 2017
If you all follow me on Instagram then you may have already heard that I an returning as a Jadelynn Brooke Campus rep for the spring semester! It was such a fun time being a college rep for JLB last semester and I am so excited to continue it again this spring! If you all love Jadelynn Brooke as much as I do, then be sure to use my code: ALUNCC16 for 15% off your entire order!

Lilly Pulitzer + Starbucks Collaboration
If you didn't hear, Lilly Pulitzer and Starbucks collaborated and came out with 4 Lilly printed Swell bottles on Wednesday! I was so excited to hear about the collaboration, but knew that these bottles would sell out quickly. I called up my local Starbucks and headed over at 6:30am to purchase my Swell bottle and have been in love with it! Did you manage to snag a Lilly Swell bottle? If so, let me know what print you got!

Duck Donuts
Wednesday RJ and I ventured out to Dilworth to try out the infamous Duck Donuts! I've heard so much about Duck Donuts from my friends and on Instagram so I knew I had to give them a try... and they did not disappoint at all! RJ tried the famous maple bacon donut and surprisingly enjoyed it! My top pick that I tried definitely had to be the peanut butter and chocolate donut.. anything peanut butter and chocolate is a win in my book! If you're in the Charlotte area or visiting anytime soon, I definitely would recommend checking Duck Donuts out!

Valentine's Day??
RJ and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day late this year. RJ had to work on Valentine's day and I had a late night class so we decided to move it this weekend (we're actually going out to dinner tonight!). This actually works out great in my opinion because I get to snag all the Valentine's Day candy for RJ's present for major discount. Super cheap or super smart? You tell me! I told RJ we need to start celebrating all of the holidays a couple days later so we can save some $$ on candy, gifts, etc! haha!

Recent Purchases
J.Crew Sidewalk Skirt
I recently picked up the infamous J.Crew sidewalk skirt and I am in love! I have been meaning to pick up this skirt for a while now and I am so glad that I did. I low key want one in every color!!

Zebra Skirt
I am a sucker for animal printed items... and by animal print I mean prints of actual zebras instead of zebra print. This skirt would be so fun for the holidays, but unfortunately it's a little bit aways.. haha!

That's it for today's Pink Talks! Be sure to take my reader survey and let me know down below what your weekend plans are! I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Wedding Guest Attire

Happy Wednesday Friends!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday! RJ and I are actually celebrating ours later this weekend due to scheduling conflicts... which low key I don't mind because that means I can snag all the Valentine's Day goodies at Target for 50% off!

If you all read my last Pink Talk's post then you know I had went to a high school friend's wedding a couple weeks ago. I had worn this dress to the wedding and think it's the perfect wedding guest outfit! Even though this dress is more suitable for a spring wedding, I couldn't resist the pretty blush pink color and florals... what more could you expect from me?

When shopping for wedding guest attire modest is always hottest. I always tend to look for piece with a higher neckline and for the hem to not be too short on me. There's a time an place for more revealing pieces and I don't think weddings are one of those places.

p.s. #sorrynotsorry for the overload of pink on my blog lately. I'm not sure if it's just me getting into the spirit of Valentine's day or what, but light pink and blush pink has been slowly taking over my closet lately. In my defense my blog name is Pastel N Pink haha. I promise I'll have a wider range of colors coming to the blog real soon!

What are some of your favorite places to shop for dresses? Let me know in the comments down below! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and as always, thank you for reading!
