Graduation Gift Ideas

Happy Wednesday friends!

It's hard for me to believe that I have 16 days left until I graduate!! Time is going by way too fast and I just wish it would slow down a bit so I can soak it all in a little more. Today in honor of graduation season, I thought it'd be fun to share some graduation gift ideas with you all! I wanted to mix in some DIY ideas I've found on Pinterest along with some experiences and material gifts to cover all bases. Let's get started now, shall we?

Material Gifts
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Tote bag - every working girl needs a good tote bag, am I right? There are so many cute options such as this Tory Burch one, but there are also many cute and affordable ones for those of you who don't want to break the bank. I have this tote and it's my absolute favorite! It's around $50 and holds so much!

Kate Spade Watch - to go along with the working girl trend, I think a watch would make the perfect grad gift! This Kate Spade one is the perfect mix of girly and sophisticated.. perfect for any working girl!

Alex and Ani Grad Bangle - What better way to remember your graduation than with a cute bangle? I have been wanting to grow my Alex and Ani collection and think this would be such a cute edition!

Fruit Loop Print - Got a grad that's moving out on their own or getting a new apartment? Snag them a cute print! This fruit loop print is too cute and funny that I'm sure it'll bring a smile to anyone you gift it to!

Other grad gifts:

DIY Gifts

I'm a HUGE fan of DIY gifts. I think they're so much more meaningful and they don't have to break the bank. I've rounded up some of my favorite DIY gifts from Pinterest that I think would make the cutest grad gifts!

"Smartie" Pants card - who doesn't love a good pun? This "Smartie" pants grad card will surely make anyone's day! Also, did I mention that it's super easy to make too??

Beer bottle grad caps - if you're not super crafty then this would be such a cute grad gift for any beer lover! All you have to do is cute out little squares and tassels to glue on the beer cap to make it look like a grad cap! So cute and simple!

Toasting the Grad - Ok, this one is TOO cute! This is obviously more towards college grads than high school because it does involve a champagne bottle. This one involves dressing up a champagne bottle in it's own graduation cap and gown, such a cute way to gift them their favorite champagne!

Tassel is worth the hassle print - This quote is too cute and you can obviously put your on twist to this print if you want! So cute!

University Survival Kit - This one is for my high school grads (but, this would be cute if you can switch it to an "Adulting survival kit" for college grads). You could put together a box full of essentials for college such as some cash, a note from home when they're home sick, snacks, pictures etc. This can be super personalized and would be such a sweet gift!

Experience gifts

I would take an experience over a material gift any day! This is obviously has to be tailored towards who ever you gift it to, but here are some potential ideas!

A cruise - these are always so fun! Cruises are a great option if you want something that includes entertainment and food on board. Just make sure who ever you're gifting it to doesn't get sea sick easily!

A resort - similar to a cruise, resorts are a great option because they're all inclusive when it comes to a place to stay and eat. I've only been to an all inclusive resort in Cancun, but it was so fun!

Cross country road trip / road trip - some type of road trip would be such a fun option! You could plan out places to stop and give them a budget to use for hotels. I'm sure there are plenty of creative ways to incorporate this one.

A dinner at their favorite restaurant - ok, who doesn't love food? You could always treat them to their favorite restaurant! You can never go wrong with that.

Concert / Sports tickets - Do they have their favorite band going on tour soon? How about their favorite sports team? I think tickets would be a great idea for any music / sport lover!

Theme park tickets - this may not be for everyone, but if your recent grad LOVES  particular theme park then getting tickers or even a season pass might be a fun option!

And those are all of my suggestions! Let me know down below what your favorite gift idea is down below! Also, be sure to check out my other graduation posts! Check out this post to read up on my tips on how to decorate your graduation cap and this post for some graduation dress ideas

If you're graduating this year congrats!! Have a great day!

Spring Trends

Off the shoulder dress || Wedges || Similar Tote || Tiny Tassel Earrings c/o (Use code: TINYTASSEL15 for 15% off!) || Bracelet

Happy Tuesday friends!

I hope you all are doing well!

We're about a month into spring and there has been SO many cute trends popping up this year. I always love spring fashion, but this year's trends have to be my favorite yet. Today I'm sharing some of my favorite spring trends with you all and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe.

This dress I'm sharing in today's outfit styling actually features many of this season's trends! The best part about this dress is that the straps are actually adjustable AND removable. I love how you can get two different looks from this piece and able to fix the straps to allow them to fit you just right.

Side note: if this dress seems a little familiar it probably is... haha! If you follow me on Instagram you may have saw on my story how I accidentally got 2 dresses that are SUPER similar. I actually featured the dress that's super similar to this one last Monday on the blog. I guess I just really love pinstripes and red embroidery!

Now, onto the trends!

Blue and white stripes
It's a pretty much guarantee that stripes will never go out of style, but this year blue and white stripes are EVERYWHERE. I love how this is a nice light and fresh alternative to the traditional black and white stripes. I have been seeing blue and white pinstripes in particular everywhere and low key am not hating at all. I think this is the easiest trend to incorporate into your wardrobe because: 1. you probably already have something that's blue and white stripes 2. if you don't you are likely able to keep this item in your wardrobe for many more seasons to come.

Another favorite trend of mine is the embroidered trend. Majority of the embroidered pieces I have seen are floral (which I'm not hating at all) which is a fun way to incorporate florals for spring. You can pretty much find embroidered pieces everywhere this spring whether it be on skirts, dresses, tops, shorts, you name it!

It seems like tassels and warm weather just go hand and hand. Tassels have been a hot trend for a few springs / summers now and I don't think they're going away anytime soon. A fun way that I like to incorporate tassels into my wardrobe is actually through my accessories, especially earrings. I have been loving these tassel earrings as of late mainly because they're so cute and so lightweight! If you love the tassel trend but hate the weight of tassel earrings, you need to get a pair from Tiny Tassel! They offer a variety of earrings in different styles and colors and they're all super lightweight. I love them!

And those are a few of my favorite trends I have been loving this spring! Let me know down below what you're loving for spring. I hope you all are having a wonderful day and as always, thank you for reading!

Graduation Dress Ideas

Happy Monday friends!

Graduation season is upon us! If you followed me on Instagram then you may have saw on my Insta Stories that I was having THE hardest time finding a graduation dress. All of the dresses I tried on during my hunt either looked weird on, didn't go with my robe or were off the shoulder (which, we all know how I feel about OTS). In the end I settled on an old Lilly dress that I had bought a couple years ago during the After Party Sale and have yet to wear.

Today I collaborated with Katie of Chic in Carolina to share some of graduation dress picks for both college and high school! If you all don't know, Katie is a high school senior and is heading to Clemson in the fall!

I have rounded up some of the cutest dresses that I think would be perfect for college graduation. They range from classic white dresses, splurge dresses and dresses under $50 for those gals on a budget. When I was picking out these dresses I wanted to keep in mind the length of the graduation gown and sleeve length. So, without further ado, let's get onto the dresses!

Splurge dresses:
If you're looking to splurge on your grad dress, I think Lilly has some of the CUTEST dresses out right now (but, when do they not?) If we still had black robes for graduation I would have totally gone for a dress like this

Dresses under 50:

You don't have to break the bank to find the perfect dress. Places like Forever 21 and BooHoo have so many great choices for grad dresses that won't break the bank.

White dresses:

I know many schools, especially high schools, require students to wear white dresses for graduation. My school this year actually decided to switch to green robes and I had the hardest time finding a dress that would go with green. I was actually thinking about choosing a white dress and think it's the easiest color to pick if you do have a colored robe. If you're looking for a classic girly white dress I think this one would be a darling choice!

Personal faves:

And those are all of my picks! Let me know down below where your favorite place to shop for cute dresses  in the comments down below! Also, thank you SO much for all of the sweet birthday wishes over the weekend! I had the best time celebrating my birthday and felt so loved! I'll be sharing more on my birthday recap in this week's Pink Talks!

Meet Esther... the purse!

Bell sleeve top || Lilly Pulitzer shorts (old print) || Sunglasses || Flats || Similar Kate Spade Purse || Kendra Scott Necklace c/o via Rocksbox (use code PASTELNPINKBLOGXOXO for your first month free!) || Bracelets (similar, mine were GWP)

Happy Friday friends!

I'm so excited for today's blog post! As mentioned in Monday's post, I treated myself to a new bag as a birthday present to myself. Today I'm super excited to share her debut on the blog! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already had a sneak peak at her (for more sneak peaks, hauls and random talks, be sure to follow me on Instagram!).

**Before I get into this post, I know I'm low key ridiculous and it may seem kind of silly to tell the story of my purse buying process, but just thought it'd be fun to share! I am super nosey and always love reading other people's adventures!

It's probably not a surprise to anyone that I've added a Kate Spade bag to my collection. I have been a HUGE fan of Kate Spade handbags for years and they are always right up my alley! I managed to score this beauty for 70% off at the outlets. I always get my bags at the outlet malls just because it's cheaper and I always find great deals there. I suggest shopping on holidays such as Labor Day, Easter, and Christmas because they're always having huge sales around then.

It actually took me an hour to decide on what purse to purchase... I'm ridiculous I know. I need give a huge shout out to RJ for accompany me during my purchase process because there were SO many people crammed in the store and I was just so indecisive the whole time. RJ actually picked out this purse right when we walked in and it's funny how I ended up purchasing it!

One of the purses I was deciding between was actually a purse Cara of Caralina Style had already owned. We had to do some Instagram creeping to make sure. I mention this because Cara and I have a habit of matching each other occasionally. If you follow either one of us on Twitter then you may have saw our unintentional matching Lilly outfits!

So I have this thing where I like to name my purses. RJ was actually the one that came up with Esther and I thought it was perfect since we got her on Easter weekend and Esther sounds like Easter! Again.. I know I'm ridiculous.

I hope you all enjoyed my debut of Esther! It's been so fun celebrating my birthday all week with you all on the blog. I'm excited for the rest of my birthday festivities this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and as always, thank you for reading!

Feelin' 22! + 22 Lessons in 22 Years

Dress || Similar Wedges || Alex and Ani initial || Alex and Ani unicorn || Earrings || Similar tote

Happy Thursday friends!

I don't know about you, BUT I'M FEELING 22!!

C'mon, you know it was bound to happen. Today is my 22nd birthday!! *Insert every party emoji in existence* For the past three years I've done some type of birthday post (check them out here and here) and as requested on Twitter, I am sharing 22 lessons I've learned over 22 years. It's hard to believe that I'm already 2 years into my twenties and how crazy time has flown by. I've learned so much over the years and I'm excited to share some of them with you all today!

1. Be yourself, people are going to judge you no matter what. - if you want to wear a loud printed pair of pants, do it. If you want to Insta story in Target, do it. Do what makes YOU happy.

2. It's ok to not be ok. - despite what Instagram shows us, no one is happy ALL the time

3. Don't be afraid to double text. - Just send the message, who cares if it's taboo. Who says there needs to be a rule to communicating via text?

4. Keep contact with people. - Say hi, send them a Snapchat, tell them you miss them.
They'll appreciate it and it's not weird, I promise.

5. Call home often. - You can always carve out 30 minutes to check in.

6. You don't have to document every little second. - put the phone down and enjoy the moment. Enjoy the people around you, Facebook and Instagram can wait.

7. At the same time, take lots of pictures. - Don't be afraid to ask people to take photos for you. You'll thank yourself for having something to look back on

8. Always pack an umbrella. - Just do it.

9. It's ok to size up. - A number doesn't define you and no one knows what size you're wearing anyways.

10. If you don't like seeing someone's posts on your timeline, unfriend them. - If you have someone in your life that makes you unhappy, distance yourself from them. Stop complaining and take the negativity out of your life.

11. Carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go. - Stay hydrated.

12. Wear what makes you happy. - If you want to wear a dress and heels, wear a dress and heels. If you want to curl your hair, curl your hair. It's better to be overdressed than under, right?

13. Always arrive at least 5 - 10 minutes early. - You'll thank yourself if you run into traffic, have to use the bathroom, what have you.

14. No one every regretted working out. - Stop thinking about it and just do it.

15. Take care of yourself. - You only have one body, take care of it. Eat an apple, go on a run, wear sunscreen.

16. Keep your receipts. - You'll save SO much money actually returning the items you bought and end up not liking anymore instead of having them collect dust in your closet.

17. Stop doubting yourself. - You are capable of SO much. Stop psyching yourself out and go out there and do great things.

18. Don't be ashamed for being a "light weight." - It's easier on the wallet.

19. Smile often. - It makes you feel better and adds more positive energy into the world. Plus, it might brighten someone's day also.

20. Experiences > material things. - Sure that dress is cute, but you'll get tired of it by next season. Take that money and go on a trip with your friends, go try a new restaurant, do something. Those memories will be way more valuable. Plus, you have plenty of dresses already.

21. Everyday  is a reason to celebrate. - Life is too short. Be thankful for a new day and waking up healthy. *But don't let this be an excuse to pop champagne on the daily... everything in moderation

22. Glitter is always messy. - It may sound like a great idea at the time... until you have to clean up afterwards.

And that's it! Hopefully you all enjoyed this post and got a chance to learn a little more about me. It's been so fun celebrating my last three birthdays with you all on my blog! I hope you all have a wonderful day and be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with all of my birthday festivities!

The Embroidered Trend

Happy Wednesday friends!

I hope you all are doing well! Today is actually my birthday eve! If you don't already know, I LOVE birthdays.. especially mine. Birthdays are just so fun and I always love making others feel special on their birthday. Today marks the first day of birthday festivities and I am planning to celebrate the rest of the week! (go hard or go home, am I right??) Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat to join in on all of the fun!

Today I'm sharing this beautiful embroidered pinstriped top from Grace & Emma. I recently became part of Grace & Emma's sisterhood program and I'm so excited to share some of their adorable pieces with you all! Be on the look out for a couple more posts featuring their items.

One of the big trends this spring that I have been loving is the embroidered trend. Something about the embroidery just screams spring and summer to me! I love this top in particular because it's actually more of a jacket style and you can wear it tied up (shown in this blog post!) and make it look more like a shirt or open like a jacket. I love how this outfit came together and think it's perfect for grabbing lunch with some friends or for a casual date!

What do you think about the embroidered trend? Do you love it or not for it? Let me know in the comments down below. I hope you all have a great day and as always, thank you for reading!

p.s. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for my 22nd birthday post! I'm super excited to share it with you all!!

6 tips on decorating your graduation cap

Images by Deeana Kourtney Photography

Graduation season is upon us! I think one of the most exciting things about graduation is decorating your graduation cap. My high school didn't allow us to decorate our caps, so I was especially excited this year when I got to decorate my college graduation cap. Also think my parents will appreciate the fact that they can easily spot their daughter in a sea of green during graduation.Whether you're about to be a high school graduate or college graduate, I wanted to share some tips I learned along the way when decorating my cap to help make the process a little easier for you. So, let's get started now, shall we?

1. Come up with a plan!
Brainstorm potential cap ideas and start thinking about what you want to put on it. Pinterest is SO helpful for getting some ideas. You can check out my "College Life" Pinterest board for some graduation cap ideas!

Write down some things you'd like to incorporate on your cap such as your major, any organizations you're apart of, your favorite color, quote etc. What kind of story do you want to tell? This will help with the brainstorming process.

2. Sketch it out
Let's face it, almost everything looks better in our heads than it does in real life. Sketch out your idea and start mapping out how you want your cap to look. This will also be helpful for when you go pick up your supplies. You'll be able to save time and money once you have your game plan mapped out.

3. Gather your supplies!
Now that you have your game plan set, time to gather all of your supplies. Hobby Lobby or Michaels are always my go to. Plus, if you just Google "Hobby Lobby coupon" you can almost always finda 40% off coupon to use it towards an item!

Here are some times I have for when choosing your supplies:

Card stock all the way - card stock is great if you want a different colored background or a sturdier piece to glue all of your decorations on. Michaels and Hobby Lobby sell a ton of different card stock options for you to choose from and for super cheap! The only thing with card stock is that you have to keep in mind to cut out a little hole for your tassel

Check the scrapbook aisle - the scrapbook aisle is filled with stickers, letters and embellishments that would make great additions to a graduation cap. I do recommend to hot glue stickers down to make sure they don't pop off.

Can't paint? Print! - Let's face it, not all of us are Van Gohs or Picasos. If you have a print that you absolutely love (ie Lilly Pulitzer!) you can print it off and modpodge it on your cap. It's a great alternative to have your print on your cap without stressing over painting it on.

Side note on the Lilly Pulitzer print: Cut out Lilly prints from an old Lilly planner! I actually got two of my Lilly prints from an old Lilly agenda and glued them on my cap. Even though I do have to admit that it was sad cutting it out of my agenda, I know that I'm probably not ever going to look back at my old agendas again.

Also, if you plan on using pearls like I did, I HIGHLY suggest finding strands of pears or pearl stickers that are lined together. This will save you a TON of time and your pearls will look a lot better. I spend so much time individually gluing down each pearl and low key wished I looked for a single strand.

4. Lay it all out
Now that you have all of your supplies, lay out a rough draft of what you would want your design to look like before you start gluing everything down. Nothing's worse than starting off right away and realizing halfway through your design isn't what you want it to be. Also, BE SURE YOU FIGURE OUT WHERE THE FRONT OF THE CAP IS. You'll thank me later when you avoid walking across the stage on graduation with your cap on backwards.

5. Glue it all down!
Hot glue will be your best friend throughout this entire process. I mean, it dries super fast and for the most part it'll guarantee that your decorations will stay intact. Be sure to get enough glue sticks to last you through out your decorating process because I definitely ran out half way!

6. Sport it and snap
Now that your master piece is completed, put that sucker on and show off your hard work! Also, be sure to take a ton of pics. I mean, did it really happen if you didn't take pictures of it?

And those are my tips! I hope you all found this helpful and picked up on some tips to use when decorating your graduation cap. Let me know down below if you're graduating this year and if you plan on decorating your cap! I hope you all have a wonderful day and if you are graduating this year, congrats! Cheers to class of 2017!!
